Welcome to [community profile] duesouth!

Welcome to [community profile] duesouth, a community for posting (or linking) your due South-related fanworks!

Fic, art, vids, fanmixes, recs, reviews, and meta are all welcome here, though we ask you to keep random squee under your Stetsons; structure that squee into a rec/review/meta post for us, and we'll squee with you!

All characters, pairings, genres, and ratings are welcome here. We ask you to avoid character-bashing; everyone in the show is somebody's favorite character!

Please place long fic, image-heavy posts, or anything NSFW behind a cut-tag (see here for how to do that), and if possible, mark posts requiring viewer discretion as such. (See here for how to do that, all the way at the bottom of the page!)

Any questions can be left in comments here or sent as a PM to your mod, [personal profile] helens78. Thank you kindly!

(And by all means, go ahead and use the comments of this post to say hi and let us know how you first came to Chicago due South fandom! Hopefully it wasn't on the trail of the killers of your father, but everyone's got a story...)

Woo hoo!!!

At my first Escapade, in 2002, I watched several stunning due South songvids. And I bought up all of the songvids I could find in the dealers room, including a bunch of VHS tapes from Kandy Fong (archiving the history of vidding - OMG they're fantastic despite the limitations of the VHS media!). And then I came home and downloaded all the songvids I could find in my primary-at-the-time fandoms (Stargate movie & SG-1 and Lord of the Rings) and all of the other songvids I could find by those vidders.

And I discovered I apparently have a thing for well-dressed folks in uniform, to go with my flannel-fetish.

*ahem*

I put due South on my "fandoms I will tumble head over heels into as soon as I marathon all of their source canon" list, which was... um... rather long.

At some point a couple years back (drat, I still need to finish going back and tagging some of my journal posts! when was that?!), I found the first two seasons of DVDs on sale at my local shop, so I tossed myself wholeheartedly into them. ADORED them.

But I never did find season 3 at my shop! And now I am woeful because I'm realizing I haven't yet seen anything past season 2!

:-(

Which of course means that I need to get my grabby paws on season 3 and then marathon all of the canon in order!

:-)

I have only sporadically read fic in this fandom, and am looking very much forward to gleefully wallowing in everything I can find once I've actually watched my marathon!

:-D

I've been happily reading this fandom since '97 or so I think, and have no idea where I first wandered in. (I do remember everyone being startled in '99 at Escapade when due South was the most popular fandom. It wasn't the #1 fandom for the most people, but it was listed somewhere on people's favorites more than any other fandom.) I'm glad you started the community here!

When I first heard of due South fandom-side a few years ago, all I really knew was that it was some sort of cop show with a Mountie and maybe there was something about a deaf wolf? Weird, but it didn't sound sufficiently outlandish for me to check it out. Eventually a friend told me about Fraser and RayK's epic gay and Dead Bob and Leslie Nielsen and showed me the buddy-breathing clip, and that sold me hard. I watched all the Kowalski episodes Dizz could send me and devoured fic, but I wanted to see the rest of the show!

It took a while, but I eventually hijacked my mom's Netflix queue with the entire series and got the whole story in the order it was intended. Mostly I just lurk, but since that first binge this has become my comfort fandom, the place I go when other fandoms are too crazy, and I'm so glad to see it has a home on Dreamwidth now.

Fraser was my first crush. I must've been eight, at the oldest, when I first saw it.

I'm twenty now. And it's still one of my favourite shows.

.. well about a month ago when I finally finally checked it out. I had heard of it ages ago, but never knew much about it other than that it was a pretty big fandom. Then [personal profile] mific made a post that the episodes of season 1 were available via the new official Canadian channel Encore+. So I checked it out, because why not? Damn I fell quick and hard for Fraser, Canadian nature and the Canadian/American culture clash (a thing I love to bits, being interested in English speaking cultures in general). Sadly, just before I could watch Victoria's Secret Part 2, they took away the rights or licensing for my country, so I can't watch the episodes anymore. But fortunately Christmas is coming up :-)
